Shy no more! Johnny Depp is clearly smitten, as the actor opened up about his engagement to actress Amber Heard (again!) during a pre-taped appearance on the Today show.
"She's a wonderful girl," Depp, 50, told Today's Savannah Guthrie in an interview set to air Friday, April 4. "She's sharp as a tack. A southern belle and sweet as can be, and very good for me."
As previously reported, the Lone Ranger star has been rocking a woman's engagement ring on his left finger. He confirmed the sparkler was actually Heard's diamond during a press conference for his film Transcendence in Beijing on March 31.
"The fact that I'm wearing a chick's ring on my finger is probably a dead giveaway," he told reporters of his engagement. "Not very subtle." During his one-on-one with Guthrie, Depp again called his bling a "chick's ring" and snapped his fingers when the morning co-host congratulated him on his impending nuptials. (An insider revealed to Us that Depp's ring isn't the same one as Heard's. The first he presented Heard with was "too big for her, so he started wearing it," the source said.)
Depp and Heard, 27, confirmed their relationship in June 2012, shortly after the actor split from his longtime partner Vanessa Paradis, 41, after 14 years together. (The pair are parents to daughter Lily-Rose, 14, and son Jack, 11.) Us confirmed Depp's engagement to his Rum Diary costar last January, and the soon-to-be husband and wife celebrated their engagement party at The Carondelet House in L.A. on March 14.
