UPDATE: Joni Mitchell’s official website has posted the following information confirming “The Circle Game” singer’s hospitalization, saying she is now awake and doing well. “Joni was found unconscious in her home this afternoon. She regained consciousness on the ambulance ride to an L.A. area hospital. She is currently in intensive care undergoing tests and is awake and in good spirits. More updates to come as we hear them. Light a candle and sing a song, let’s all send good wishes her way.”
ORIGINAL STORY: Legendary singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell — who paved the way for generations of women including Taylor Swift and many others — was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday, March 31, TMZ reports.
Mitchell, a key member of the Woodstock generation, was reportedly unconscious at her Los Angeles home before becoming responsive while en route to the hospital.
The 71-year-old, who has eight Grammys to her name is known for hits including “Big Yellow Taxi,” was in intensive care as of Tuesday afternoon.
According to TMZ, it’s unclear what prompted Mitchell, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997, to become unconscious.
