Cue the record scratch. Joy Behar had quite a strong reaction to a clip from Keeping Up With the Kardashians, which she and her fellow cohosts of The View aired during their talk show on Wednesday, February 10.
In the preview snippet, Kendall Jenner is upset with her dad, Caitlyn Jenner, for essentially stealing her thunder at the Victoria’s Secret runway show by announcing her attendance to the press.
“You knew that was going to happen,” the up-and-coming model complains to Caitlyn (whose gender transition last year made headlines worldwide) over the phone. “OK, well, I don’t want you to go … You’re gonna take the biggest night of my life and take it away from me? Thank you. No! You can’t! You can come to the f–king afterparty. You can’t come!”
While the hosts had varying reactions to the reality star’s outburst toward her dad, Behar was the first to react.
“This is why the terrorists hate us, I’m convinced of it,” the 73-year-old comedian quipped.
“If I had said any types of those words to my family or cussed out my transgender father, I would’ve gotten smacked in the face,” cohost Raven-Symoné added. “I would not be on Victoria’s Secret runway …”
After a few back-and-forths among the women (Candace Cameron Bure argued that Kendall had a point; a parent should never try to upstage their child), Behar added another incendiary comment to the conversation.
“Caitlyn wants some attention too now,” she said. “One narcissist in the family is enough, how many do they need?”
This isn’t the first time that Behar has gotten flack for her glib comments.
Last September, the longtime cohost found herself in hot water after making disparaging comments about Miss Colorado Kelley Johnson after the Miss America contestant delivered a monologue for the talent portion of the beauty pageant.
“Why does she have a doctor’s stethoscope on?” she sniped, prompting nurses and nursing supporters to create the social media hashtag “NursesUnite.”
