She’ll get to it later. Julianne Hough revealed why she and her fiancé, Brooks Laich, are in no rush to get married during a recent interview with Refinery29.
“We’re not great planners. We don’t even have a date yet. We’re really just enjoying our engagement period because we’re never going to be here again,” the former Dancing With the Stars pro, 27, explained earlier this month.
“Even when we were dating, we were like, ‘Let’s just be boyfriend and girlfriend.’ And now that we’re engaged, it’s ‘let’s just be fiancés,'” she continued. “When we get married, we’ll be husband and wife. And then, we’ll be mom and dad. We just want to enjoy each stage of our relationship.”
That’s not to say that she hasn’t thought about the big day. “We both want to keep it as intimate as possible — that’s just more our style and our vibe,” she said. “But I have a very big family, so intimate to us might be big to some people.”
Hough and her Canadian NHL player beau, 32, got engaged in August 2015 after more than a year of dating. But instead of diving right into wedding planning, the dancer continued to stay focused on her career. Since then, she’s wrapped a season of judging on DWTS, traveled for her Move Live on Tour with her brother, Derek Hough, and starred as Sandy in Fox’s live production of Grease.
Laich has also kept busy. The athlete just returned home to L.A. after wrapping up his hockey season with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
