When the “Love Yourself” singer and a few friends dropped by Zac Efron’s Los Angeles home after partying at the nearby Doheny Room and 1 Oak July 23, Bieber, 22, suggested his host “be more selective about the roles he takes,” a source reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly.
After declaring himself a fan of Efron’s since 2006’s High School Musical, “Justin was very honest and kind of went in on Zac,” continues the insider. “But Zac appreciated it.”
In fact, the Baywatch actor, 28, told his new bro “to keep breaking boundaries,” says the source. “He was giving him life tips.”
Bieber’s career is showing no signs of slowing down. His latest project, a collaboration with Major Lazer and MØ on the dance track “Cold Water,” shot straight to No. 1 on the iTunes chart shortly after its July 22 release.
The pop star teased the song to fans July 21, tweeting a clip featuring himself — clad in white Calvin Klein boxer briefs — stepping into a glacier-barricaded lake. “ColdWater4HOURS,” Bieber wrote.
He’s not the only confidant to give advice to Efron, who’s currently starring in Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates. The Dirty Grandpa star recalled having to explain his prosthetic testicles from the comedy Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising to his mom.
“There were a lot of paparazzi on set,” he told Us in May. “My mom sent me a picture of me, looking right in the lens, holding my fake nuts. She was like, ‘Please, what are you doing?’”
“I said, ‘It’s for the film, Mom,’” he continued. “She was like, ‘Have some class!’”
