Yeezus has landed—and so has his almost-wife! Flying in from Paris, France, Kanye West was photographed de-boarding a private jet in Florence, Italy Saturday morning, May 24, with just a few hours to go before his wedding to Kim Kardashian. The 36-year-old rapper’s fiancee was later seen and snapped boarding a car at the airport. Her de facto brother-in-law Scott Disick (sister Kourtney Kardashian‘s longtime partner) as well as other guests (including Kardashian besties Jonathan Cheban and Brittny Gastineau) were also spotted arriving on various flights (some commercial, some private) for the mega-bash.
The couple have, of course, been feting their nuptials for several days now, with celebrations culminating in two extravagant events just outside Paris on Friday: An elegant lunch at designer Valentino’s estate, followed by an ever more luxe dinner and tour at the Palace of Versailles, complete with caviar, Ace of Spades champagne and a private Lana Del Rey performance.
The main event unfolds imminently at the medieval Forte di Belvedere, with a chaotic scene of photographers and fans growing outside its gates. Past 4 p.m. local time, tech staff were seen checking and testing all the cables and amplifiers at the altar, while white jacketed waiters began adjusting settings at the long dining table and eight security staffers huddled for a last-minute strategy meeting.
Around a quarter to 5 p.m., a loud sound check—playing Andrea Bocelli‘s “Time to Say Goodbye,” was heard, as dark cars were seen entering the fort from the rear gate.
West and Kardashian, 33, are expected to swap vows in front of giant wall of white peonies and roses flown in from Paris and Belgium.
The production isn’t without some anxiety, one source told Us Weekly. “The team are worried something will go wrong because Kim and Kanye are staying a long drive from where they’re staying. They genuinely don’t know anything and it’s causing a lot of stress,” the source added.
UPDATE: Past 5:30 p.m. local time, guests like John Legend and Chrissy Teigen, Scottie Pippen, 12 Years a Slave director Steve McQueen and others were seen entering the Forte and going through the security check; fans screamed aloud for Kanye, Kim and Beyonce (whose attendance has yet to be confirmed.)
