Kanye West Got Rid of His Cellphone So He Has More ‘Air to Create’

So much for the iPhone 7. Kanye West has ditched his cellphone — and it’s all in the name of art.

“I got rid of my phone so I can have air to create,” the Yeezy fashion designer tweeted Wednesday, September 14.

Considering West, 39, doesn’t use social media aside from Twitter, it’s unclear how exactly his phone was cluttering the Yeezy Season 4 designer’s genius. (Check out the video above to learning about how Kanye is unleashing his creativity and his new feud with Kid Cudi.)

The “Fade” rapper, who is married to social media maven Kim Kardashian, will likely survive longer than Us without a cellphone, though, considering he didn’t even get one until 2011.

West revealed during an appearance on Khloe Kardashian’s short-lived talk show, Kocktails With Khloé, in April 2016, that he purchased a cellphone only to win over Kim, who was married to Kris Humphries at the time.

“I got a phone because somebody decided they wanted to marry Kris Humphries,” West recalled to his sister-in-law. "I wasn't up to anything, and I looked on the internet, and there was Kim Kardashian with some extremely tall person, and I was like, 'I need to call her or something.’”

The Grammy winner then used his phone to shade Humphries, who Kim, 35, divorced after only 72 days of marriage in October 2011.

“I started sending her pictures of certain basketball players that used to be cool, that now they wear their pants all the way up to here,” West said. “Like, ‘This is your future!’”
