Kate Middleton, Prince William Have “Very Special,” Private Anniversary

Prince William and Kate Middleton

Deja vu!

On Saturday, 364 days after their own nuptials, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge found themselves walking down the aisle yet again — but this time as guests at the wedding of close pals Hannah Gillingham and Robert Carter at St. Andrews Church in Wingfield, England.

"They were beaming," an onlooker tells Us Weekly of Prince William, 29, and Kate, 30, whose first wedding anniversary is Sunday. Their entrance in the church even caused a bit of comic relief.

"They sat close to the front of the church, so they had to walk down the aisle together to get there," explains the observer. "It made a few people chuckle."

Fittingly, another royal wedding star was also on hand for the lower-key event: Kate's sister Pippa Middleton, who has been tip-toeing back into public life after her Paris gun scandal two weeks ago.

Wearing a lace dress previously worn last summer during the royal tour of Canada, Duchess Kate "looked tanned and beautiful," the observer marvels.

"Lots of people congratulated them on their first year anniversary," adds the witness, "But they seemed quite keen not to take any attention away from the bride and groom."

But the twosome didn't party hard with their friends late into the night. Instead, they traveled back to their humble cottage in Anglesey, Wales that night — all with the goal of waking up at home for their anniversary.

Their romantic Sunday plans? Teases a royal aide: "They've been looking forward to a very special day at home."
