Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau are hoping to put down “roots” together, a source exclusively tells Us.
“They will finally have time to settle in as a blended family,” the insider shares as Katy’s Out of Office Tour winds down at the end of July until the end of August. “Over the last month, they have been coparenting in Europe, and their exes Sophie and Orlando have been there.”
Perry, 41, shares daughter Daisy, 5, with ex-fiancé Orlando Bloom. Meanwhile, Trudeau, 54, is a dad to sons Xavier, 18, and Hadrien, 12, and daughter Ella-Grace, 17, with ex-wife Sophie Grégoire.
“The idea is to re-stabilize and have some down time in August to figure out the architecture of what their relationship looks like, to lay some roots down and get a proper rhythm,” the source continues. “They want to make sure there is a stable system to nurture their kids.”
The insider adds that Trudeau, who served as Canada’s prime minister from November 2015 to March 2025, planned to have a “normal life” after he left office.
“He bought a house, moved back to Montreal and has yet to settle into the home because of his relationship and the new world they live in,” the source notes of Trudeau and Perry. “Everyone is rooting for them, but they need to settle down a bit, so that’s the plan. Everyone close to them wants them to succeed in their relationship.”

Perry and Trudeau were first spotted out to dinner together in Montreal, Canada, in July 2025, just days before Trudeau attended Perry’s Lifetimes Tour stop in the city. A source exclusively told Us at the time that their outing was “definitely” a date, but it was “casual.” After a few months of spending time together privately, the couple made their first public appearance at Crazy Horse Paris for Perry’s birthday in October 2025. They made their romance Instagram official that December.
“Katy and Justin speak the same love language,” the insider tells Us, adding that Perry is “diving right into Canadian culture.”
“She’s shopping designers from Quebec. And it gives Justin pride that she wants to experience his culture as much as she can,” the source shares. “She wants to embrace his culture, and it is important to her that he feels proud. He is learning a lot from her and she is learning a lot from him.”
Perry has also been getting close to Trudeau’s family, as the source says she began “coaching” Xavier with his “aspiring music career.”
“She’s mentoring him on how to have more pop appeal. He’s been spending time with her and his dad during this leg of the tour,” the insider concludes.
Us reached out to reps for Perry and Trudeau for comment.
Last month, Perry gushed that her life “transformed” after she found love.
“You think when The Beatles say, ‘All you need is love,’ it’s a cliché? Clichés are clichés for a reason … it’s like you don’t know until you have your baby how beautiful that experience is and how it transforms you,” she said on Justin Tranter’s “Unfamous” podcast. “I am constantly in transformation, and I have so many placements of Scorpio in my chart that it would be easy for me to go to the dark side. I’m constantly rebirthing, constantly transforming, constantly, you know, phoenix to ashes, then hopefully eagle.”
Before her romance with Trudeau, Perry and Bloom, 49, were engaged from February 2019 to June 2025.
For his part, Trudeau was married to Grégoire, 51, from May 2005 to August 2023.
