We just want to hug her! Kelly Clarkson got so emotional during her performance of ‘Piece by Piece’ on American Idol on Thursday, February 25, that she broke down in tears — and made everyone else cry too!
The pregnant former American Idol winner wiped tears from her eyes and was so choked up she had to miss a few words as she took to the stage during her stint as guest judge on the first live show of Idol‘s farewell season.
And her emotion was contagious! As Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez looked on in awe at Clarkson, performing (and weeping!) on stage, their tears started flowing too!
The show is hugely important to Clarkson, who was the first-ever contestant to be crowned an Idol winner 14 seasons ago. And despite it being only weeks until she gives birth to her second child, the “Moment Like This” singer was determined to play a part in the series’ final installment.
Talking to Ryan Seacrest after her performance, she apologized for letting her emotions run so high.
“And I’m pregnant and I’m nostalgic and I can’t believe it’s the last season, and I’m really sorry but I just bawled,” she said, as the crowd went wild.
