Guess Selena Gomez is in a different league than the "pitchy strippers" Kelly Clarkson was bemoaning. A day after Clarkson trashed some of the entertainers on hand for Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards, the inaugural American Idol, 31, had nothing but praise for Gomez, 21, who attended and presented at the event. "Dear Selena Gomez, you are by far one of the most beautiful, sexy, classy things on this planet," the "Dark Side" singer tweeted Aug. 27. Clarkson also pointed out that she and Gomez, BFF Taylor Swift's seatmate inside the Barclays Center, are both Lone Star state natives: "#Goddidgood #texasgirls," her tweet continued.
Watching the VMAs, Clarkson seemed to take a jab at Miley Cyrus' headline-yanking performance: "Just saw a couple performances from the VMAs last night," she wrote on Monday, Aug. 26. "2 words…#pitchystrippers."
To be fair, 20-year-old Cyrus wasn't the only scantily clad performer of the night: Lady Gaga opened up the show with her new single "Applause," eventually stripping down to a G-string and shell bikini top.
Late last week, Clarkson — who has decided to elope with fiance Brandon Blackstock — seemed to be a fan of Gaga's latest music. "Really digging Macklemore right now and also Lady Gaga's new song Applause ….I love music that puts me in a great mood #welldone."
Rounding out her August critiques, the star also heaped praise on Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis' latest comedic offering. "We're the Miller's is one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. Hilarious!! NoRagrets ….not one single letter haha!!" she wrote. (As it happens, Aniston, 44, plays a stripper in the road trip comedy.)
