Kelly Rowland's man put a big ring on it — and she has technology to thank!
As Us Weekly reported back in November, Rowland is engaged to wed her manager and boyfriend Tim Weatherspoon. "She has been showing [the ring] off to friends and family and is very happy," a source close to the "Kisses Down Low" singer, 32, told Us — which is exactly what the X Factor judge did during a pre-taped episode of The Queen Latifah Show set to air Wednesday, Dec. 18.
The gorgeous, glowing star finally confirmed and discussed her engagement during Wednesday's segment — "He put a ring on it," she said, blushing, as she held up her left hand for the audience.
"It's been a while," Rowland told the show host. "We've kept it very, very low — for years, to be completely honest."
So how exactly did he propose? "It happened, um, on Skype," the singer said. One fateful night, while Rowland was "in Bulgaria somwhere," she and her beau were chatting via the video chat platform. "It was so late — we were just staring at each other," she said of the moment right before Weatherspoon popped the question. (Luckily, he later followed it up with a beautiful diamond ring, which Latifah playfully admired during the interview.)
The X Factor judge rarely discusses her personal life — and never even confirmed her relationship with Weatherspoon in the past. Rowland was engaged once before to football player Roy Williams, from whom she split in January 2005, a mere two months before their planned wedding date. She later explained to Cosmopolitan UK, "I was too young for marriage."
The Destiny's Child alum appears to be ready to walk down the altar, nearly nine years after her broken first engagement. "I have my best friend to ride through life with," she said of Weatherspoon. "He really is my best friend."
