Kesha says reclaiming her sexuality following a nine-year legal battle was “a miracle” — but she’s “mostly celibate” now.
“I’m celibate except for when I’m in Italy,” Kesha, 39, said during her “Call Her Daddy” podcast interview, released on Wednesday, May 6. “[It makes] perfect sense.”
Kesha previously revealed that she couldn’t orgasm because of the stress surrounding her legal struggles, which she has since overcome. .
“Now, I actually masturbate to gratitude meditations,” the singer revealed. “Don’t knock it ‘til you try it.”
Kesha added, “Remember when I said I started every day with a gratitude meditation? Right. It’s been amazing.”
Kesha was locked into a lengthy legal battle with music producer Dr. Luke (real name Łukasz Sebastian Gottwald) from 2014 to 2023. Kesha alleged in a lawsuit that Dr. Luke assaulted her in 2005, claiming that she woke up in his bed “sore and sick with no memory” of how she got there, further alleging that he threatened her career if she ever came forward. Dr. Luke has continued to deny her accusations, and responded with a defamation suit.
Kesha dropped her initial lawsuit in August 2016. They reached a settlement in the defamation lawsuit in June 2023.
“When I got my freedom, I was like, I’m pissed about a lot of stuff, but one of the things is that pleasure. I keep coming back to pleasure,” Kesha explained during Wednesday’s podcast episode. “It is OK, as a woman, to feel pleasure in this world. When you go through things, pleasure is not the number one neural pathway that your brain always goes to when you have survived things.”
She added, “I had to reprogram that and I do it every f***ing day, and I’m not even embarrassed about it.”
Kesha explained that she decided to stay celibate because she’s “calling in a f***ing king” to fall in love with.
“It’s time for my king,” she added. “My p**sy is manifesting with gratitude that my king is coming, OK. Your body has to align with your reality before it shows up in your life.”
Kesha joked that there are “some f***ing kings in Italy,” which is why she makes the exception. Elsewhere in the episode, Kesha confirmed that she’s “very single” at the moment.
“Mostly celibate was like the goal. Progress, not perfection,” she continued, noting that this break in dating came from Kesha loving a red flag in a romantic partner. “I’m going to remain very single on purpose because we have worked on this trait of mine.”
