Living in a new reality. Kim Kardashian is seeing her life in a new light following the Monday, October 3, robbery at her Paris apartment, a source tells Us Weekly.
“This incident was a completely life-changing event for Kim,” the insider tells Us. “She realizes she was living in a bubble doing what she was doing. She loved flaunting her wealth and being so public. She felt safe and never really thought about her vulnerability. Now she knows she was so naive. Everything has to change going forward.”
A few days before the terrifying incident, the Keeping Up With the Kardashian star showed off a massive $4.5 million ring via Instagram.
As Us Weekly previously reported, Kardashian’s rep told Us that the 35-year-old reality star was “badly shaken but physically unharmed” on Monday after five men dressed as policemen broke into her apartment at the Hôtel de Pourtalès, held her at gunpoint, tied her up and left her in the bathroom as they stole an estimated $10 million dollars’ worth of jewelry. The new ring, a gift from her husband, Kanye West, was among the items taken.
Another source told Us that Kardashian’s neighbors “did not hear a thing when she was screaming for help,” and the gang didn’t leave a single trace of DNA at the scene of the crime.
Kardashian flew back to the States shortly afterward to reunite with West, 39, in NYC, and the pair have gone silent on social media.
“She is still being interviewed by Paris police and is waiting to see what happens,” the first source tells Us. “She loves Paris and will definitely go back, but she is taking a break from everything and it will be a while before she is ready.”
A number of celebrities have come forward to speak out in support of the reality star, but there has also been plenty of backlash against the notoriously public mom of two.
Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld scolded Kardashian for flaunting her jewelry on social media, telling Reuters, “If you are that famous and you put all your jewelry on the net, you go to hotels where nobody can come near to the room. You cannot display your wealth and then be surprised that some people want to share it with you.”
