Singer and early aughts icon Kylie Minogue is opening up about her love life and making some rare comments about two of her most impactful exes, Michael Hutchence and Jason Donovan.

“Yes, probably,” Minogue, 57, said of Hutchence in a Saturday, May 16, interview with The Sunday Times, confirming Hutchence to be the love of her life.

“I’ve had lots of relationships, some were love, some were not,” she continued. “My relationship with him, or our relationship at the time, was not for that long, but it had a profound effect on me.”

Minogue and Hutchence, a former INXS singer, were married from 1989 to 1991. In 1997, he unexpectedly died by suicide. According to the singer, Hutchence taught her to be “still,” be “true to herself” and was always “respectful” of her art as a singer.

Minogue also dated her Neighbours co-star Donovan for three years starting in 1986. According to Minogue, the pair remain good friends.

“Yeah, yeah, we are,” Minogue said of her friendship with Donovan. “I’ve texted him some doozies while I was looking through all the old photos and video footage of us together. I told him he better start collecting things for his doc.”

She continued of their off-screen relationship during their on-screen romance, “We fancied each other. The love story in the show came first and then it became a real thing.”

While relatively private when it comes to her love life, Minogue is opening up about her past great romances in the new Netflix, three-part documentary aptly titled Kylie.

“You could hear a pin drop,” Minogue told The Sunday Times of a moment in episode two, when she discusses the impact Hutchence has on her and, while speaking, begins to cry.

“I’m like, I know I’m going to cry at some point in this goddamn documentary,” Minogue continued. “When’s the point going to be? But I also knew that I was holding on to a lot of stuff.”

Notoriously media shy and content to live life outside the harsh spotlight of Hollywood, Minogue admitted that she was nervous for such a tell-all documentary to be revealed to the public.

“I have such a knot of excitement and nerves,” she told the outlet. “There was so much to get through. How the hell do you tell the story? I’ve been asked by so many people to do a documentary in the past, but I’ve never done anything like this before.”
