No longer lovers, but still friends! Lady Gaga opened up about her relationship with her former fiancé, Taylor Kinney, on SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show on Monday, October 24. Hear what she said in the clip above!
The pair split in July after five years together, but Gaga, 30, said she’s not actively looking for a new romance yet. “I’m actually very close to Taylor,” the “Perfect Illusion” singer said. “He’s been my lover and my friend for a really long time. He’s been so supportive of the [new] album [Joanne], and I support him on his show, Chicago Fire.”
The American Horror Story actress explained that the breakup truly was amicable. “I hate to sound like a hippie, but I kind of am one and so is he. We love each other, that’s it,” Gaga said. “It’s just about life changes, and we all go through different stages and we’re focused on different things. To be fair, I think that Taylor’s pretty f–king cool that over the years no matter what creative transformation that I’ve gone through, he’s always been very supportive of that and loving. There’s a lot on this record inspired by our relationship, and he’s super supportive of me expressing myself artistically.”
However, when host Howard Stern asked if she’d be happy for Kinney, 35, if he started dating someone new, she joked, “I’m not going to f–king throw a party!”
The “Born This Way” singer also talked about her Super Bowl halftime gig, which Us Weekly exclusively revealed last month. “Basically, the NFL wanted to talk to us about doing the halftime show but they wanted to hear the new record,” Gaga said. “I played them Joanne, they loved it and it was the record that sealed the deal!… You get to perform on the biggest stage in the world, and they help you to put on the show.”
As for whether there’s any possibility of a wardrobe malfunction à la Janet Jackson. “Absolutely not,” she quipped.
