Christmas with the Tells! Lauren Conrad has a new holiday tradition since marrying William Tell in October 2014. The Paper Crown designer exclusively told Us Weekly that her mother-in-law gives matching pajama sets to her and Tell’s two sisters before Christmas.
“She’ll drop them off ahead of time, and then Christmas morning we all go to his parents’ house, and we all open gifts together in our pajamas,” Conrad, 29, told Us at Flutter Magazine’s celebration of their Paper Crowns feature in Hollywood on Tuesday, December 15. “That’s kind of a new tradition for me.”
She added, “Holidays for us are very busy — we have something every single night, and we’re always seeing lots of family. It’s fun, though.”
The Laguna Beach alum and Tell, 35, will be celebrating their second Christmas this year as husband and wife. On Tuesday night, Conrad gushed that her beau is a “very good gift giver.” (Tell graduated from law school at the University of Southern California in May 2014.)
“It’s a blessing and a curse! It’s great because I get wonderful gifts, but it also sets the bar pretty high,” she told Us. “I have always kind of stressed, and he’s given me no tips as to what he wants this year!”
Conrad may be in a bind, but she joked that Amazon Prime always comes in handy for last-minute purchases. The gift she wants most, however, can’t be bought online.
“The only thing I’ve asked for so far is I’ve asked my mom to help me design my garden,” she said. “I just had all these raised beds built, and they’re just boxes of dirt as of now — so that was the only thing I asked for, for her to help me plant my vegetable garden.”
After (hopefully!) getting her wish, Conrad sees a lot of relaxation in her future. “Two years ago [Will and I] went to Napa [for New Year’s] with some friends and stayed in and cooked dinner and played games. It was, like, the best thing ever,” she told Us. “So we’re considering doing a more mellow version of that, whether it’s here or somewhere else.”
