Back to the Lorraine Baines days! Lea Thompson left it all out on the dance floor on this season of Dancing With the Stars, notably wowing audiences when she revisited her 1985 role from Back to the Future in week three.
During her time on the ABC series (she was eliminated and placed fifth earlier this month), the actress, 53, reflected on her Lorraine Baines role and recalled how she caught a showing of the Michael J. Fox adventure sci-fi with then-fiance Dennis Quaid when it first came out. Check out what else she told Us:
Us Weekly: What’s your favorite memory from Back to the Future?
Lea Thompson: “My favorite memory of Back to the Future actually is seeing it! I was engaged to Dennis Quaid at the time and the movie had been out for like two months and we went to the Cinerama Dome.
They gave me a free parking spot and it was completely full and we stood in the back and watched the whole movie. People were just ecstatic! I was like, ‘Oh my gosh…this is spectacular!’ As a movie actor you never get that kind of feedback.” (The actors met on the set of 1983’s Jaws 3D and called off their engagement three years later.)
US: Out of the three films, do you have a favorite?
LT: “Definitely the first one, the original.”
US: Did you keep a prop or costume from set?
LT: “I wore the pink dress in the promo that we did three weeks ago. I do still have that.”
US: You’re lucky it still fits!
LT: “No! Are you kidding me? I was so skinny. When you have a child, your ribs expand and I’ve had two. So I’m not the same size!”
US: Have you stayed in touch with Michael J. Fox (Marty McFly)?
LT: “Not too much, but…I love [the cast]. I do see Claudia [Wells] (Jennifer Parker) a lot and Chris Lloyd (Dr. Emmett Brown) here and there.”
US: Do you have any crazy fan stories?
LT: “Oh, yeah! I had a woman say, ‘Can you sign my hip?’ And then she came back and found me in an hour and she had tattooed it on! Can you believe that?”
US: Lastly, did you ever get to ride The DeLorean time machine when you weren’t filming?
LT: “No! Only on Dancing with the Stars! I got to drive the DeLorean here. Finally!”
The Dancing With the Stars season 19 finale airs Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC. Tune in to see who will win the Mirrorball trophy — Sadie Robertson, Alfonso Ribeiro, or Janel Parrish!
