Lorraine Baines is back! Lea Thompson revisited her 1985 classic Back to the Future by performing to the film’s theme song “Power of Love” (originated by Huey Lewis and The News, of course) during Dancing With the Stars on Monday, Sept. 29.
The 53-year-old actress and her pro partner Artem Chigvintsev began their performance with a pre-taped skit. The duo pretended to go into the future (Chigvintsev carried a version of the film’s famous pink skateboard!) as they spoke to their “younger” selves.
The pair then made their way to the dance floor with the help of Dr. Emmett Brown’s DeLorean DMC-12 vehicle. Thompson slipped into a revealing pink dress for the Cha Cha number, receiving a 31 out of 40 score.
“Lorraine McFly is my favorite character so it was fun to revisit her,” Thompson told co-host Erin Andrews after the throwback dance. “She rules!”
Former kid and teen star Thompson played Michael J. Fox’s mother in the ’80s cult classic. When Marty McFly (Fox) traveled 30 years back in time, his mother Baines — as her younger self — became infatuated with him. Luckily for McFly, Baines later fell in love with his future father at the Enchantment Under the Sea dance at Hill Valley High School.
Back to the Future also starred Christopher Lloyd (Doc Brown), Crispin Glover (George McFly), and Thomas F. Wilson (Biff Tannen). Thompson reprised her role in 1989’s Back to the Future Part II and Back to the Future Part III in 1990.
