Girls just want to have fun! Lena Dunham revealed how she celebrated her 30th birthday while attending the 20th annual Webby Awards in NYC on Monday, May 16.
“I had a little party with some friends,” Dunham, exclusively told Us Weekly on the red carpet. “I had some Chinese food. I felt very alive.”
The Girls creator and star turned the big 3-0 on Friday, May 13. Her first surprise of the day? She received several flower bouquets and a handmade “Happy Birthday” sign from her boyfriend, Bleachers and Fun. rocker Jack Antonoff.
“Arrived home from a late night of shooting to find this display waiting for me. I already love being 30 (and I love my boyfriend. A lot a lot a lot.),” she captioned the gift via Instagram. “UPDATE: Asked sleeping Jack if he made me the birthday sign. He mumbled sarcastically ‘no, I ordered it.'”
Antonoff, 32, also penned a sweet note about his longtime love. “happy birthday LD love of my life I’m so thrilled you are 30 pic taken 2 hours ago wish I was back there in the car now,” he wrote via Instagram at the time. “I’d be in hell without lena.”
This should be a momentous year for the HBO star. Dunham, who was hospitalized for a ruptured ovarian cyst in March, is currently filming the final season of Girls in NYC. She also surprised fans on Tuesday when she dropped a new book titled Is It Evil Not To Be Sure?, which includes excerpts from a journal she wrote when she was 19.
Other stars to give Dunham a sweet shout-out included Reese Witherspoon, Taylor Swift and her Girls costar Allison Williams. To find out what they said, watch the video above!
