Lil Wayne reportedly suffered a seizure while aboard his private plane on Monday, June 13. According to TMZ, the musician’s plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Nebraska.
The “Cross Me” rapper, 33, was flying from Milwaukee to California when he reportedly blacked out, and the pilot landed the plane in Omaha. TMZ reports that a conscious Wayne then refused medical treatment.
Minutes after taking off again, TMZ reports that Wayne suffered another seizure and was taken to the hospital.
Weezy has a history of seizures. In 2012, his plane was also forced to make an emergency landing, and in 2013, he spent almost a week in the hospital after he suffered a series of seizures back to back.
Wayne told Power 106 in March 2013 that he’s epileptic.
“The bad news is … I’m prone to seizures,” he explained. “Like, this isn’t my first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh seizure. I’ve had a bunch of seizures, y’all just never hear about them. … I go to sleep and wake up in the hospital. I don’t feel anything.”
In May 2013, however, Wayne almost died.
“It got real bad ’cause I had three of them in a row, and on the third one, my heart rate went down to, like, 30 percent,” he explained to Power 106 after being released from the hospital. “Basically, I could’ve died, so that is why it was so serious. But the reason being for the seizures is just plain stress, no rest, overworking myself.”
