Oh, he's got jokes! Luke Bryan won't be collaborating — or even speaking — with Gwen Stefani anytime soon. The country superstar teased why while attending the CMT Artists of the Year Awards in Nashville, Tenn., on Wednesday, Dec. 2, where Stefani's boyfriend (and Bryan's buddy) Blake Shelton was among the honorees.
Bryan, 39, talked about Shelton and Stefani's new romance on the red carpet before the star-studded show. "He doesn't want me to hug her or anything," he teased while speaking with Entertainment Tonight. "He doesn't want me to meet her."
The "Kick the Dust Up" singer also revealed that he hasn't spent time with the Voice coaches as a couple yet, and joked about getting Stefani's eyes checked.
"My stepmother is an optometrist," he said. "And I'm trying to get Gwen an appointment with her." (He previously said that Shelton couldn't get a girl that hot.)
Us Weekly broke the news last month that Shelton, 39, and the No Doubt frontwoman, 46, are dating. The pair's friendship blossomed into romance following their splits from Miranda Lambert and Gavin Rossdale, respectively.
"The whole thing with a relationship is enjoy it and have fun," Bryan told ET on Nov. 22. "They're having fun, and that's a good thing."
Shelton, meanwhile, opened up about his "crazy year" while receiving an award Wednesday night. "Let me just say that I want to thank my label and thank my entire team," he said at the time. "There's too many people to stand up here and name, but more importantly, I want to say that this has been a crazy year, from the way it started to how it's ending is so awesome for me. So thank you all. This is a great way to end it for me. Thank you so much."
