Ballroom partners for life! Dancing With the Stars lovebirds Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd are engaged, he revealed via Twitter on Saturday, Dec. 5.
“She said ‘yes,'” the Ukrainian hunk, 35, tweeted from his account, linking to an Instagram photo of the proposal and tagging his new fiancee.
In the pic, Chmerkovskiy kneels before his love on a stage, holding a ring in one hand and a microphone in the other. As a group of dancers — including Maks’ brother, Val — cheers behind them, Murgatroyd tearfully gazes at the ring and clasps her hands over her mouth.
The romantic moment went down at the end of a performance of Sway at the Olympia Theater in Miami, Fla. Sway stars the Chmerkovskiy brothers and Murgatroyd, as well as DWTS pro Tony Dovolani and DWTS alums Meryl Davis and Rumer Willis, who were partnered with Maks and Val, respectively, in their winning seasons.
“I’m in love with you and I want to be in love with you for the rest of my life,” Chmerkovskiy said, according to an eyewitness. “Will you marry me?”
The Season 18 champ and New Zealand native Murgatroyd, 29, first dated for 10 months in 2012 and 2013. They rekindled their romance earlier this year. In October, they attended the JDRF Promise Ball Gala, where they posed for a selfie on the red carpet.
“They’re fully back together,” a source told Us Weekly in May. Added a second insider: “He has been working hard to really be a good guy to her and show her that he’s changed.”
