Maria Menounos and Keven Undergaro started married life on a sweet note. Following their surprise Sunday, December 31 nuptials, the duo cut their wedding cake together and fed each other their first bites.
As seen in the exclusive clip above, at the party, held at Southern Hospitality BBQ, Menounos tells their guests, “I’ve never cut a wedding cake!” as the couple slices into the large dessert. Once they made their first cut, the former E! News host playfully smashes a portion into her new husband’s face as he laughs. As Undergaro goes to feed Menounos her portion of the slice, she asks, “Are you gonna go classy?” Ultimately, he did, and opted not to smear the cake on her.
The couple, engaged since March 2016, wed on Sunday on live TV in New York City, shortly before the ball dropped in Times Square.
“Omg! I can’t believe we are finally getting married after 20 years,” Menounos tweeted of her longtime love before tying the knot. “#Coldestbrideever.”
Her parents, Constantine and Lisa Menounos, were both in attendance for the big moment. Menounos told her mom, who is battling stage 4 brain cancer, that Kris Jenner recently gave her advice: Tomorrow’s never promised.
“Finally some good news for mom,” Menounos, 39, wrote alongside a video of herself telling her parents that she would be getting married just hours later. “We are getting married tonight in Times Square! I will be the coldest bride ever but the happiest! Seeing my parents happy means everything.”
On Howard Stern’s Tuesday, January 2, radio show, the host revealed that the couple had originally planned to have their surprise nuptials on his show, however Stern, 63, didn’t think the event would make sense on the radio as opposed to a live broadcast. Stern is a longtime friend of the duo, and Underargo proposed to Menounos live on his show last year. “Although I said that this isn’t a proposal I want to ask you something, Maria,” Undergaro said at the time, while getting down on one knee. “Will you make me the happiest man on Earth?”
Visibly shocked, Menounos replied: “Are you freaking kidding me right now?”
Just hours before they said “I do,” Undergaro, 51, gushed over his love, who underwent major brain surgery to remove a benign meningioma tumor in June. “I’m holding back tears. This is my holiday miracle. Months ago @mariamenounos was in a hospital bed with her eyes rolling back in her head – post brain surgery,” he wrote. “The doctors said that ‘should’ go away ‘…over time’. To see her back on her feet, happy, smiling and doing what she is best at ends my year in the most amazing way. Thanks for all the love you showed her – it really helped get her back.”
