Why can’t we be friends? Marla Maples spoke out about ex-husband Donald Trump in a new interview on Thursday, March 24, just one day after the Republican presidential front-runner retweeted an unflattering photo of Ted Cruz’s wife, Heidi Cruz.
Trump, 69, reposted side-by-side photos of Heidi and his current, third wife, Melania Trump, on Wednesday, March 23. The critical meme — which was captioned, “A picture is worth a thousand words” — shows Heidi, 43, looking agitated, while former model Melania, 45, appears gorgeous and glowing.
Maples, who was married to Trump from 1993 to 1999, was not amused by the tweet, telling Entertainment Tonight that it’s best to “keep the peace.”
“I believe the world is just a better place when we can keep the peace,” the 52-year-old TV personality said. “We’re all different, but we’re all alike in a lot of ways.”
Maples (the presidential candidate’s second wife) added that Trump sent her his best wishes when he found out that she was competing on season 22 of Dancing With the Stars with pro dancer Tony Dovolani.
“He wished me the best of luck, absolutely, and I so appreciate it,” she said. “It was fantastic. So many friends and family are reaching out. It means so much. I haven’t been able to respond to everyone, but I gotta tell you I feel all the energy and support. With all my heart, I feel every good wish and every prayer and it really helps me out.”
Trump and Maples are parents of daughter Tiffany, 22.
