Matthew Stafford had the time of his life appearing in Taylor Swift’s recent “Patient Zero” music video.
“It was a cool experience,” Stafford, 38, said during the Monday, September 28, episode of his “Let’s Go” podcast.
“[Swift has] been amazing to get to know, and obviously amazing to my wife and my girls,” he continued. “And it was kind of that connection that got me involved and some of my buddies. So it was a really cool experience.”
Stafford and Erin Andrews’ husband, Jarret Stoll, were among the star-studded cameos in the music video for Swift’s single “Patient Zero,” which premiered during the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, September 27. The pair appeared wearing black suits for a scene at a party, where they chatted with the video’s leading man, Colin Farrell. Swift’s close friend, Cara Delevingne, also made a cameo.
“I’m playing myself, I guess, but as a party-goer at this fine party there were some amazing actors and other people there,” Stafford said on Monday’s episode. “That was really cool to get to do. I was just happy to be a part of it. It was a really cool experience.”
Matthew’s family, including wife Kelly Stafford and their four daughters, 9-year-old twins Sawyer and Chandler, 8-year-old Hunter and 6-year-old Tyler, were also able to be involved.
“My girls were there on the set, got to see how all that was done and how [Swift] kind of carries herself, which is unbelievable,” he recalled.
Matthew also gushed about Swift, 36, looking back at her “impressive” work as the video’s director, producer and star.
Matthew and his family have long made their status as Swifties known to the public. Back in 2024, the Los Angeles Rams quarterback and his wife dressed as the “Babylon” singer and her husband, Travis Kelce, for Halloween, while their daughters dressed as different eras of Swift’s music. In December 2025, the couple’s youngest daughter replicated Swift’s dance for the “Fate of Ophelia” music video while celebrating Matthew’s touchdown.
The music video for “Patient Zero,” which comes as part of Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore deluxe album, premiered on Sunday after the singer accepted the first-ever VMA Artist Director Honors.
“I’ve gotten to be a part of making 60 music videos, roughly … 18 of those I wrote and directed, and I really love writing and directing music. I got to tell you, though, the main reason why I love writing and directing music videos so much is because you, the fans, make it so much fun,” she said in her acceptance speech.
Swift continued, “You make it so rewarding because you actually care about what we’re making. So, you know, I want to say thank you to everyone who ever worked on a music video that I got to be a part of. I learned something from every single person that ever worked alongside me on these projects. Mainly, I want to say thank you to the fans.”
