Uh-oh. Fox News host Megyn Kelly blasted Hillary Clinton over jokes she made in a recent interview with Lena Dunham about Lenny Kravitz’s wardrobe malfunction on Aug. 3, when he split his pants onstage in concert.
It all started when Dunham, 29, invited Clinton, 67, to interview for the actress’ latest venture, Lenny Letter, an email newsletter project. The presidential candidate began by joking that she expected to speak with Kravitz, due to the name of Dunham’s new written project.
The Girls star then brought up the rocker’s recent fashion mishap and joked about his “stuff” falling out.
Clinton asked, “Do you think I could get that?” to which Dunham replied, “It’s on YouTube.”
“Okay, good, I’ll look for that,” Clinton joked.
The full exchange between Dunham and Clinton was published on Tuesday, Sept. 29.
In a sit-down for New York Advertising Week on Monday, Sept. 28, Kelly, 44, told Cosmopolitan’s editor-in-chief, Joanna Coles, that the interview was “not really fitting for a presidential candidate.”
“I don’t think that it necessarily serves Clinton to talk about Kravitz’s, you know,” Kelly said, according to Page Six. “You’re still trying to convince people to see me as your president. It’s a tough balance between being relatable and showing a softer side, and still maintaining the dignity of the office that you seek.”
The TV personality also has criticized Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. The two first butted heads on Aug. 6, when Kelly moderated the GOP debate and ripped Trump over his treatment of women. Afterward, Trump told CNN’s Don Lemon, “She is a lightweight. I couldn’t care less about her. You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever.” On Aug. 24, Kelly blasted Trump, 69, over his immigration proposals. In response, he went on a Twitter tirade, tweeting that Kelly “was off her game.”
