First Lady Melania Trump insists her husband, President Donald Trump, is working hard in his second term amid historically low poll numbers leading up to the highly contested 2026 midterm elections.
“He’s very focused. He has a lot on his plate,” Melania, 56, said during a Wednesday, September 23, appearance on Fox & Friends. “It’s very different, what’s going on around the world now. But I think he’s doing the best that he can. He works nonstop; he has the most energy than anybody. He’s — from morning until evening — nonstop working.”
Melania’s comments on her husband’s work ethic come days after Vice President JD Vance begged voters to give the Trump administration “another chance” amid public outrage over the war in Iran, high gas prices, inflation, cost of living, controversial immigration policies and more.
“Give us another couple years to continue to work on the amazing things that we’ve been doing for the past two years,” Vance, 42, said on the September 15 episode of the “All In” podcast.
“Even if you don’t agree with us [Republicans] on every issue, the [Democratic] party is consumed by craziness,” he said as all 435 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and 35 of the 100 seats in the U.S. Senate will be contested to determine the 120th United States Congress on November 3.
Vance continued, “To the American people, I’d say, send these people [Democrats] packing. Put them in the mental hospital. Do not put them in Congress because even if you don’t agree with us on every policy issue, at least we’re motivated by common sense and American interest. They’re just motivated left-wing interest groups and radicalism, and they’re going to do a very bad job if we give them power.”
Earlier this week, Trump, 80, addressed world leaders across the globe at the United Nations General Assembly, where he boasted that the U.S. is “making a lot of progress” in the war with Iran.
“Our country is doing really, really well. Thank you very much, everybody,” he said on Tuesday, September 22.
He added, “While others have spoken of peace, I have made peace. Do I annihilate the Islamic Republic, and do it quickly? Do I drive them into hell with no chance of survival and no hope of future greatness or generations? But I believe we’ll make a deal. Right after the election.”
Trump faced criticism earlier this month for his appearance at the GOP’s American Airlines Center in Dallas, where he asked delegates to pledge their allegiance to him.
“Please raise your right hand. I pledge to the greatest president in the history of the United States that loves us so much he can’t even breathe,” he said at the September 10 event. “That I will go out with my family, my friends. I’ll do it anyway. I don’t care if I am registered or not, I am going to cheat like hell like they do. There have never been bigger cheaters.”
He added, “I’m going to go out and get my friends, my family, and we are going to vote on November 3, or we are going to vote before that.”
