Fifteen years down, forever to go! Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, Nov. 18, and the Chicago actress couldn’t resist sharing an adorable snapshot of the pair in commemoration of the special day.
“Happy Anniversary dearest Michael!” she captioned a precious black-and-white photo of the couple. “Loving our life together, here’s to the next 15!”
In the image, which Zeta-Jones, 46, posted to Instagram, she and Douglas, 71, hold each other in a tight embrace as the actor gives her a big smooch on her forehead.
The pair, who tied the knot in 2000, made headlines in 2013 when they briefly split. At the time, the couple was undergoing a huge amount of stress due to Zeta-Jones’ bipolar disorder and Douglas’ throat cancer diagnosis (which he infamously linked to oral sex).
“I was trying to make a public service comment,” he told The Daily Mail of his misstep. “It was one of those things… and I so regretted any embarrassment that it caused Catherine. And her family. …We had a little bump in the road. The problem in this business is that everything is so public.”
In that same interview, however, he expressed just how much Zeta-Jones means to him.
“I love Catherine as much, more than I ever have,” he said. “And hopefully the feeling’s mutual. We worked things out — if both people want to work something out and make it better, you can do it. You can’t do it if it’s just one person.”
The couple are parents to son Dylan, 15, and daughter Carys, 12.
