Milania Giudice appeared before a New Jersey judge to plead her case after her arrest for domestic violence in May.
Giudice, 20, appeared virtually in a court hearing on Tuesday, August 11, wearing a black turtleneck with her hair slicked back into a bun, according to The U.S. Sun. Her attorney asked to delay her assault trial so that she can attend anger management classes in the wake of her arrest.
The judge said the state needs to “review discovery” and speak to responding officers before issuing a ruling. He suggested a new court date of September 22.
Giudice’s attorney asked to change the date to September 15 or 29, arguing the Real Housewives of New Jersey star will be back in school in Florida. The judge agreed to September 29 as the date of her next hearing.
Milania was arrested on May 14 by Montville Township, New Jersey, police at her mother Teresa Giudice’s home following an alleged domestic violence incident.
The judge in the case previously claimed that Milania “did knowingly cause bodily injury to another, specifically by striking the victim, LR, in the head with her fist, causing redness to the middle of the victim’s forehead, during a domestic dispute … a disorderly person’s offense.”
She was charged with simple assault and purposely/knowingly causing bodily injury. Milania pleaded not guilty to all charges, and her alleged victim’s identity has not yet been revealed.
According to the arrest report obtained by Us, her sister Gabriella Giudice called police on May 14 to report that Milania was “acting erratically” and “throwing food [and] candles.” No weapons or injuries were reported.
Us also obtained police dashcam footage that showed Milania, who is one of Teresa’s four daughters with ex-husband Joe Giudice, handcuffed in the back of a cop car and seemingly smiling before being hauled off to jail.
Milania spoke publicly about her arrest in July while reacting to a fake mugshot circulating on social media. (Her real mugshot has not been released).
“I have one thing to say, I’m going to save the rest for tomorrow. But that ‘mugshot’ of me, if you guys really believe. That’s AI,” she said in a TikTok video that has since been removed. “I ate down in my mugshot. I looked fire. I mean, nothing to be proud of.”
The Bravo star told her followers that “s*** happens in life,” adding, “It is what it is, you gotta learn from it. Just become a better person and talk about it. I just was not in a good area in my life. That happens, I’ve been through a lot in life and some other stuff happened to me. Just because you guys think you know everything that happens in my life, you just really don’t.”
Milania also made headlines after losing her best friend Victoria Zardoya, whom she has known since childhood, last month.
Zardoya died on July 24 after suffering a fatal fall. She was 20. The longtime best friends met when they were four years old.
“Every Chapter Has Your Name In It 🤍🕊️,” Milania posted to Instagram on August 1 alongside a carousel of throwback photos with Zardoya. “My Victoria. My best friend. My sister. My soulmate. My partner in crime. There are no words in any language that could ever describe losing you.”
She continued, “I still wait for your name to pop up on my phone, I still expect to hear your laugh, and I still catch myself wanting to tell you something. My heart keeps forgetting what my mind already knows, but one thing I know for sure is that every chapter of my life has your name in it.”
Milania’s mom also addressed Zardoya’s death.
“My sweet beautiful Victoria,” the RHONJ star wrote via Instagram. “This just doesn’t seem real. You were like a daughter to me and an incredible built in best friend and sister to Milania. I watched the two of you grow up into such beautiful young women, and seeing you both follow your dreams at the University of Tampa warmed my heart because I always knew she had you by her side.”
Teresa added, “You were so full of life — kind, ambitious, and unstoppable.”
She concluded her heartfelt tribute to the late young woman, “You had the biggest heart and the brightest future ahead of you. I can’t believe I’m writing this right now. The thought of you not walking through my front door anymore doesn’t feel real. It feels like a nightmare I keep hoping I’ll wake up from.”
