Haters gonna hate, but Miley Cyrus and her inner circle "couldn't have been happier" about the former Disney star's MTV Video Music Awards performance, Cyrus's manager, Larry Rudolph, tells Us Weekly. Rudolph tells Us that despite the fallout following the "We Can't Stop" singer's risque appearance and antics on Sunday, Aug. 25, the singer and her camp are proud of her daring duet with Robin Thicke.

"We were all cheering from the side of the stage," Rudolph told Us of Cyrus's family and friends, including mom Tish. "It could not have gone better. The fans got it. The rest eventually will."

On Sunday, the 20-year-old pop songstress stripped down to flesh-colored latex underwear during the second half of her performance, during which she rubbed up against Thicke, 36, and gestured around the stage with a giant foam finger.

Celebrities and fans alike reacted with shock over Cyrus's behavior, but the fun-loving singer has quite a few supporters in her corner, including Justin Timberlake, who took home the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award for the evening.

"It's the VMAs, what did you guys expect?" he said during a radio interview on Tuesday, Aug. 27. "I like Miley. I like her a lot. I think, you know, she's young. She's letting everyone know that she's growing up. I just think it's the VMAs. It's not like she did it at the Grammys."

Cyrus's own father, "Achy Breaky Heart" singer Billy Ray Cyrus, also chimed in to voice his support for his daughter's edgy performance.

"Of course I'll always be here for Miley," he told Entertainment Tonight after the fact. "Can't wait [to] see her when she gets home. She's still my little girl and I'm still her dad regardless how this circus we call show business plays out. I love her unconditionally and that will never change."

And, in an uncharacteristically goofy moment, the country singer even supposedly told Cyrus that he wishes he'd taken part in the shenanigans. The former Hannah Montana star tweeted on Wednesday, Aug. 28: "If twerkin woulda been invented … And I had a foam finger … I woulda done the same thang you did."
