A message from one former Disney tween star to another: Fame isn't easy. While talking to Huffington Post U.K. recently, Miley Cyrus observed that she and Britney Spears are kindred spirits.
"Everyone goes through a time in their life where they don't want their picture taken everyday," the 20-year-old explained of Spears. "She just never had that time where she could say, 'I'm going through something right now and need to shut down.' I also don't have that, so it's good to have that one person in my life who gets it."
Having her personal life watched so closely by the public has been hard for the former Hannah Montana star, but she shares that it's helpful to know she's not the only one going through it.
"I just think it's never blaming you or making you feel like, 'You've got all this going for you,' it's like she knows," Cyrus explained. "Sometimes life just steps in the middle of your career the way life always does for anyone — it's just ours is a little more 24/7."
In June, the pop princesses connected via Twitter and hinted at a near-future dance party. "Loving your new video for #WeCantStop!" Spears tweeted to the 20-year-old with a wink face. "Maybe you can teach me how to twerk sometime LOL."
A clearly excited Cyrus replied, "We could twerk it out in exchange for u teaching me da moves 2 'slave for you' (I've been practicing for the past 10 years."
