Minka Kelly and Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds have reportedly separated after four years together.
Multiple outlets, including TMZ and People, reported the news on Wednesday, October 7. Us reached out to reps for Kelly and Reynolds.
Months prior to their split, Kelly, 46, gushed over Reynolds, 39, in a sweet social media tribute.
“Thank you for making ordinary days feel extraordinary, for making me laugh until I can’t breathe, and for loving so deeply and so freely,” she wrote via Instagram in July. “Celebrating you is one of my favorite things to do. I love you, Dan. Happy birthday ♥️.”
Kelly and Reynolds were introduced by a mutual friend in 2022 following his divorce from Aja Volkman. At the time, the pair spoke on the phone before agreeing to send each other what projects they were working on. For Kelly, this meant her Tell Me Everything memoir, while Reynolds was creating his band’s Loom album.
“She’s like, ‘Well, if you’re going to share your art, I can share something with you, but it’s very vulnerable for me,’” Reynolds recalled to People in July 2024. “‘Do you want to do this or not?’”
From Reynolds’ perspective, the experience of sharing their work with each other “ended up being a really beautiful thing and brought [them] a lot closer.”
“I think it helped us both kind of understand each other on a deeper level quickly,” he shared. “It was a really strange and awesome way to meet someone because I was hearing all her life stories from youth to now, and she had a really hard, colorful, beautiful life. Getting to read it all before you even meet somebody … I’ve never had that kind of introduction to someone.”
The pair were spotted in public for the first time in November 2022 while dining at an Italian restaurant in Los Angeles. Kelly and Reynolds went on to be seen on multiple occasions before he made a surprise cameo on her Netflix show, Ransom Canyon. While reflecting on the moment, Kelly revealed that Reynolds helped her prepare for the role by teaching her how to play the piano.
“He helped me a lot,” she said on an episode of Today with Jenna & Friends in 2025. “Because at home he’d help me translate — I can’t read music — so he would show me how it’s done.”
Prior to his relationship with Kelly, Reynolds was married to Volkman, 46, from 2011 to 2024. The pair share four kids: Arrow, 14, twins Gia and Coco, 9, and Valentine, 7.
