Quite a frosty reception! Miranda Lambert showed off a real fur coat that she received as a present from her grandmother via Instagram on Saturday, December 26 — but not all her fans were happy about her gift.
“I’m so fancy… You already know,” she captioned the photo, quoting Iggy Azalea's hit song "Fancy." “My Nonny gave me two of her fur coats! I definitely know where I got my love for DIAMONDS, FUR and WHISKEY! #familytradition #grandmatreasures #besthandmedownever #wandathewanderer #bringitwinter.”
In the photo, the 32-year-old country singer looks all warm and snuggled up in a floor-length fur, black boots, and a beige beanie.
Lambert’s excitement over her new wintry apparel didn’t impress everyone, however.
Immediately after posting the snapshot, the “Little Red Wagon” singer was bombarded with messages blasting her decision to wear fur.
“Sorry, I love you dearly, but I don’t agree with this,” one commenter wrote. “I don’t agree with animals dying for coats.”
Quipped another user wrote, “Not cool for animal lover Miranda.”
Lambert didn’t address the criticisms directly, but did follow up her initial post with another one, of herself with her grandma and a photo close-up of the lining of the coat, which features her grandmother's name, Wanda Coker.
“Her name embroidered inside is priceless,” she captioned the second post. “A family heirloom I will cherish forever. I’m so thankful for her and all the things I have learned from her. Nonny is strong, beautiful, feisty and most of all, loving. #grandmatreasures #diamondsfurandwhiskey #wandathewanderer.”
