What could have been.
Miranda Lambert always wanted that fairy tale ending — and she wanted it with Blake Shelton. The “Automatic” singer’s former publicist, Kathy Best, opened up to Us Weekly about the couple’s heartbreaking split.
“Fans who know anything about Miranda knows she comes from a family who were able to stay together no matter what they went through,” Best exclusively tells Us.
She adds: “They didn’t give up. Miranda believed in a marriage like her parents and knew it was possible. I know this is what she wanted and I know she wanted this with Blake.”
Best is a longtime friend of the country superstar, and even planned Lambert and Shelton’s May 2011 wedding at the Don Strange Ranch in Boerne, Tx. She went on to launch her own wedding and event planning business, Front Porch Farms, after the stars’ extravagant nuptials.
Us confirmed on Monday, July 20, that Lambert, 31, and the Voice mentor, 39, split after four years of marriage. Just hours after the news, the pair finalized their divorce.
“This is not the future we envisioned,” the pair told Us in a statement. “And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter.”
Shelton filed for divorce in Pottawatomie County, Okla., on July 6. An insider told Us that Shelton will keep their ranch outside Tishomingo, Okla., and Lambert will get their Nashville property. “They were rarely together,” a source told Us. “Distance was a major factor.”
