Andrew Stern, the husband of former Deal or No Deal model Katie Cleary, committed suicide on Sunday, June 22, a spokesperson for the family confirms to Us Weekly.
“On Sunday, June 22, Andrew Stern, husband of Katie Cleary, committed suicide at a shooting range in the San Fernando Valley,” the spokesperson said in a statement to Us. “Andrew and Katie have been in the midst of a very amicable separation and had remained on excellent terms. This is devastating news for us but we have been aware of Andrew’s longtime struggle with depression.”
Prior to Stern’s death, America’s Next Top Model alum Cleary was spotted with both Leonardo DiCaprio and Adrian Grenier at the 67th Annual Cannes Film Festival in France. However, the spokesperson tells Us that the photos of her with the stars had nothing to do with Stern’s death.
“Any rumors of any kind of extra-marital relationship are entirely fabricated and completely false,” the family spokesperson tells Us, adding that Cleary’s interaction with DiCaprio at Gotha nightclub on May 19 “was fully for the purpose of potential collaboration for environmental and animal welfare issues.”
TMZ was first to report on Stern’s death. A public memorial service for Stern will be held on Saturday, June 28, in Venice, Calif.
