The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ Mikayla Matthews is getting emotional as she prepares to move houses with husband Jace Terry and their four children.

“We just packed up things to move out of our house. I didn’t think I would be this emotional about it,” Matthews, 26, said in a tearful TikTok video on Sunday, October 11.

She continued, “This house has been like a huge stressor in my life, but it’s also brought us … we just created our whole family there, brought all our babies home there.”

Matthews then cut to a montage of clips of her family in their home before concluding with a clip of herself standing in the framework of their new home, which is still under construction.

“No one talks about what it’s like to be living in a home that’s making you sick,” the MomTok influencer, who suffers from chronic inflammatory response syndrome (CIRS), wrote over the video, sharing photos of her skin flare-ups. “For years, it’s made me anxious, depressed, dysregulated and unsafe in the place I should feel the safest. And left me with PTSD, making it hard to feel safe in any building or living environment.”

Matthews captioned the post, “We bought a home 🥹I want to go so much more in-depth on this because I get SO many comments of ‘why don’t you just sell your home, etc.’ it’s such a complex illness and the mental side of #cirs that I think need to be talked about more 🙏🏼❤️‍🩹.”

The reality star has been open about her experience with chronic illness on social media and on Mormon Wives over the years.

In a series of Instagram Stories in March, Matthews said her CIRS was “brought on [by] prolonged exposures to toxins (mold).”

In another Story, she wrote, “This condition has stolen literally everything from me. I had like a year and half where I couldn’t look people in the eyes, I felt like if I didn’t look them in the eyes, then they couldn’t see my skin, it’s something I’m still working on.’

“I have said no to SO MANY fun events, premiers and opportunities because of my skin, but I show up when I can because I want you guys that are in similar situations to feel seen and know that life doesn’t have to stop when shitty things are happening to you❤,” she added.

In September, Matthews announced her exit from Mormon Wives during production of season 6 after Taylor Frankie Paul resumed filming the hit reality series. Paul is currently embroiled in legal battles over custody of her three children with ex-husband Tate Paul and ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen.

Paul teased her own Mormon Wives exit a week after Matthews announced her departure.
