Nancy Sinatra: Rumor That Ronan Farrow Is Frank Sinatra’s Son Is “Nonsense”

Nancy Sinatra spoke about Ronan Farrow and Mia Farrow in a new interview.

The brother she never knew she had? Nancy Sinatra gave a rare interview to CBS Sunday Morning this week, and sounded off on a rumor concerning her father Frank Sinatra and television personality Ronan Farrow

The son of Frank’s ex-wife Mia Farrow, Ronan was long believed to be the child of Mia and her other, equally famous ex, filmmaker Woody Allen. As Ronan, now 27, does bear a physical resemblance to that of the late Frank, there was talk that he was actually the child of Farrow and Frank, conceived during a fling almost 20 years after their 1968 divorce.

“Mia’s son? Oh, nonsense,” Nancy, 74, told CBS Sunday Morning

“He would just laugh it off,” she added of her iconic father, who passed away in 1998 at the age of 82. “We didn’t laugh it off because it was affecting my kids, you know? They were being questioned about it and we all knew it was nonsense.”

A mother of two daughters, Nancy touched on the moment that the rumor mill heated up. Mia was asked outright by Vanity Fair in 2013 whether Ronan is, in fact, the son of Frank.

“Possibly,” she told the mag simply at the time, although the MSNBC star reportedly has not undergone DNA tests to confirm his biological father. Ronan took the speculation lightly, tweeting in October 2013, “Listen, we’re all *possibly* Frank Sinatra’s son.”

“I was kind of cranky with Mia for even saying, ‘Possibly,’ — I think the word she used when somebody said, ‘Is that Frank’s son?’ ‘Possibly,'” Nancy continued. “I was cranky with her for saying that. She knew better, you know, she really did. But she was making a joke! And it was taken very seriously and was just silly, stupid.”

While she became “cranky” with Mia for her joke about her father, Nancy did add that she has long had a close relationship with the actress, now 70.

“Well, we loved Mia,” she said of the Rosemary’s Baby star, who was married to Frank for just two years in the mid-1960s. “Mia was one of our… like, a sister. We had a good time, [sister] Tina [Sinatra] and Mia and I did.”
