NASCAR driver Robby Gordon’s father, Bob Gordon, and his stepmother, Sharon Gordon, were found dead inside their Orange, California, home on Wednesday, September 14, the Associated Press reports. Bob was 68, and Sharon was 57.
An investigator at the scene told CBS L.A. they’re investigating whether the cause was murder-suicide. The AP reports that there was a rifle found inside the home.
Orange Police Lt. Fred Lopez told USA Today in a statement that there’s “no cause of death at this time” and that law enforcement received a 911 call from a neighbor on Wednesday around 5 p.m. informing them that there were two bodies inside the residence.
"I'm so sad and I can't believe it,” Robby, 47, told the Associated Press on Wednesday. “The truth will com out, what went down here.”
According to neighbor Greg Saunders, Bob — who was an off-road racer — was a likable man.
“He’s a very nice, down-to-earth guy,” Saunders said of his neighbor, adding that Bob also had a horse-feed business and would deliver hay to neighbors “personally.”
According to the AP, autopsies are pending.
