Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes says she is “thankful to be alive” following a health scare that left her hospitalized.
The reality TV star, who wrote on her official website on Monday, Nov. 18 that she was “blessed to be alive,” also shared a photo of herself — bed-ridden in a hospital gown — with multiple IVs protruding from both arms. The animated, outspoken reality star and budding actress further explained her illness on Tuesday in a blog post: “Late last week I wasn’t feeling well and was feeling a little short of breath,” she wrote.
“I know my body and I know when I should be concerned so I went to the hospital to get checked out. After some routine tests I was diagnosed with blood clots in my lung,” she revealed.
Leakes continued of her health condition: “I’m told this happened to me because of the constant traveling around the country that I do for my job.” She added, “I’m thankful to be alive as the doctor advised me that most people don’t recognize the symptoms of blood clots and don’t go to the doctor and that’s when the big problems start happening.”
Fellow Bravo staple Patti Stanger expressed well wishes for the hospitalized star on Monday: “I can’t [lose] my gurl,” wrote the Millionaire Matchmaker. “We gotta a lot of plans coming up. If you need me I’m here.”
In June, the New Normal star remarried her husband Gregg Leakes. Her spinoff series I Dream of NeNe premiered in September, and chronicled the lead-up to their nuptials. Leakes is currently recovering at home following her health scare with her “wonderful Husband and family!” she wrote.
