Dang, girls! The U.S. Women’s Gymnastics team showed off their athletic finesse and flexibility in a newly released advertisement for Under Armour that dropped on Tuesday, February 23.
In the short clip, the teammates — including MyKayla Skinner, 19, Maggie Nichols, 18, and Madison Kocian, 18 — undergo rigorous training in the early hours of the morning and then again late night, practicing their moves at the gym in a series of intense exercises.
The women show off their incredible upper-body strength by climbing ropes and doing continuous backflips on loop to the heavy drumming and intonations of MIA’s “Matangi,” showing their dedication to the sport.
At the end of the video, the trio make their way into the stadium clad in sparkly leotards and with determined looks on their faces.
“It’s what you do in the dark that puts you in the light,” the words crawl across the screen at the end of the clip.
“I think you can expect huge gymnastics from the U.S. gymnastics team,” Kocian tells Us. “We have so much potential and everything and as you guys have seen, the last couple World Championships, the last Olympics, the U.S. is so dominant right now and I think we just want to continue this success and the level that we’re at.”
The 2016 Summer Olympics will take place in Rio, and offer the women the chance to defend the U.S. team’s position as gold medal champions from the 2012 London Olympics.
