Perez Hilton‘s mom has filed for temporary custody of his three children following his recent livestream incident.
Us confirms Teresita Lavandeira filed court papers on Friday, August 7. Documents show the blogger “voluntarily consented” to the request. (Page Six was first to report the news.)
Hilton, 48, is the father of Mario, 13, Mia, 11, and Mayte, 8.
Earlier this month, authorities were called to Hilton’s home after he appeared to engage in acts of self-harm during a livestream on TikTok.
“The individual has been safely recovered and transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a local hospital, where he is receiving medical attention,” the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office noted in a statement to Us. “The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Crisis Response Unit and Licensed Mental Health Professionals are also on scene providing support and resources to the individual’s family.”
Hilton’s loved ones later shared an update via his website addressing his condition, revealing that he was “able to communicate” while receiving treatment.
“Our family wants to once again thank everyone who has reached out with prayers, kind messages, and support for Perez. Your compassionate humanity during this profoundly heartbreaking time has meant more than words can express,” they wrote on August 5. “This has been incredibly difficult and emotional for us, made even harder because very little information has been made available to our family. While we continue to wait for further updates, we remain hopeful.”
At the time, Hilton’s family asked for “prayers, understanding and grace” as they navigated the situation.
“We will share additional updates as we receive confirmed information and are able to do so. For now, we’re taking things one step at a time and keeping our focus where it belongs, on Perez and his recovery,” the statement concluded.
A subsequent statement revealed more information about how Hilton’s children were coping.
“The events of the past several days have been nearly unbearable for our family,” read a message shared on Thursday, August 6. “Just minutes before the public livestream incident, Perez’s children, niece, and sister were inside the home. When it became clear that Perez was experiencing a severe mental health crisis and harming himself, they immediately fled to protect the children from witnessing any further trauma.”
Hilton’s family asserted that the safety of his kids was the No. 1 priority.
“An important part of [their healing] process is allowing them to safely return home and begin rebuilding a sense of security and normalcy,” the statement continued, asking the media and content creators to “leave the area surrounding the family’s home and not return.”
Hilton has not addressed the incident himself. According to a statement shared Saturday, August 8, the blogger “experienced significant blood loss and sustained additional injuries” that required surgery.
