Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi made a new friend in former presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich July 18 when they both appeared on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.
Though the pregnant MTV reality star, 24, and the Republican from Georgia, 69, have little in common, Gingrich did reveal he's familiar with Polizzi's work. "I'm very impressed . . . I've seen clips of Jersey Shore and I've seen some of your interviews. In fact, I saw some interviews when you did your first book," he told her. "Congratulations on having two New York Times bestsellers."
The pint-sized, self-proclaimed "Princess of Poughkeepsie" thanked Gingrich and said, "I'm trying to be like you!"
When the conversation shifted to Polizzi's upcoming nuptials with Jionni LaValle, 24, the mom-to-be said she hopes her fiance has the wildest bachelor party imaginable. "I feel like a guy should have strippers," she explained. "You know, you're going to be married to the same girl your whole life, so enjoy it. I trust him."
Gingrich, on the other hand, was more reserved before marrying his third wife, Callista Bisek, 46, in 2002. "I feel like, in some ways, my life has been deprived now that I've listened to you," Gingrich, who served as Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1995 to 1999, jokingly told Polizzi. "[Callista] said she was already crazy for marrying me. That was enough for her."
Still, it'll be a while before Polizzi actually walks down the aisle. "We're not having the wedding anytime soon," she said. "We're going to have the baby, be good parents and then talk about the wedding."
