Mum’s the word! Prince William joked to a woman during his visit to Cornwall with Duchess Kate Middleton on Thursday, September 1, that although he often gets compared to his late mother, he must politely qualify their likeness.
The moment came about when William, 34, and Middleton, 34, visited the Truro Cathedral and went on a walkabout among the crowd. An older woman, retired teaching assistant Linda Moore, told William that he bore a great resemblance to Diana.
“I said to him, ‘You look like your mum,’ and he said, ‘I think my mum was better looking,’” the 62-year-old well-wisher told Us. “He’s lovely. I’ve just got to meet Harry now. Then I’ve met all of them. I met the Queen in Camborne.”
Moore told William that she had met Princess Diana 25 years ago in nearby Redruth. She then asked the young royal for a kiss, to which he obliged.
“You can give me a peck on the cheek,” William responded. When Moore asked for a hug, the Prince agreed. “Oh, go then,” he said before posing for a picture with her.
On Wednesday, August 25, the Duke and Duchess visited Keech Hospice Care in Luton, where the heir to the throne told a young teen that he still misses his mother “every day.”
“Time makes it easier,” he told the teen, who lost his mother to cancer one year ago. “I know how you feel. I still miss my mother every day — and it’s 20 years after she died.”
