The actor's wife, Evi, told the news outlet that the actor was allegedly detained when he arrived for a regular check-in based on conditions he made following an April arrest. He's set to attend a hearing with the Immigration and Refugee Board on Thursday morning. No other details were provided.

This isn't Quaid's first run-in with the law. The Independence Day star, 65 — Dennis Quaid's older brother — was arrested for allegedly skipping out on a hotel bill in Texas in September 2009. He and Evi then fled the U.S. in 2010, claiming that they were targeted in a plot to kill Hollywood stars.

According to CBC News, the troubled actor was also arrested this past April following an investigation by the CBSA. He was released on a $10,000 bond, which was paid by his Canadian father-in-law, George Motolanez. (CBC reporter Steve Rukavina posted a photo of Quaid in court at the time.)

"At this point, I desire nothing more than to fully co-operate with any restrictions or conditions," Quaid told the court at the time. "As long as I could be with my wife, even if that means going back to the States to reapply for permanent residency status in Canada."

Story is still developing.
