Go, girlfriend! Reese Witherspoon led the reactions from Taylor Swift’s group of supportive celebrity BFFs, after the singer’s Grammys 2016 acceptance speech in which she sniped back at Kanye West for his recent comments.
The “Bad Blood” singer delivered a bold speech when she went up on stage to receive the 2016 Grammy Award for Album of the Year, becoming the first women ever to have received the coveted honor twice.
And apparently by standing up to West, who claimed last week that he was the one who made her famous, the 1989 hitmaker offered a bit of girlpower to other women in the world facing similar situations.
“I want to say to all the young women out there — there are going to be people along the way who are going to try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame,” she said as her voice shook. “But if you just focus on the work, and you don’t let those people sidetrack you, someday when you get where you’re going, you’ll look around and you will know that it was you and the people who love you who put you there. And that will be greatest feeling in the world.”
And it turns out that everyone from Witherspoon to Maria Shriver thought the speech was awesome!
“@taylorswift13 Loved your amazing words! Keep encouraging all those young women to write their stories& sing their songs #Grammys,” Witherspoon tweeted as the show came to a close.
