
Maria Shriver

Maria Shriver was born in Chicago, Ill. in 1955 to Robert Sargent Shriver, a politician, and Eunice Kennedy Shriver. Maria’s uncle is former United States President John F. Kennedy.
Shriver met her future husband Arnold Schwarzenegger at a tennis event in 1977; the two married in 1986 and have four children together – Katherine (born in 1989), Christina (1991), Patrick (1993) and Christopher (1997).
Shriver is an American journalist and the author of six best-selling books; like her mother, she’s a lifelong advocate for these with special needs and remains heavily involved with the Special Olympics.
In 2003, Shriver became the First Lady of California when Schwarzenegger became governor in a recall election. After 25 years of marriage, the couple announced their separation in May 2011.
