According to the team’s website, 19-year-old mom of two, Kerstin Gonzalez, was so surprised that she thought it was a joke.

“Are they playing a prank on me or something?” Gonzalez said was her initial reaction. “When he showed me the keys, I was like ‘This is real’. That’s when I started to cry because it’s been such a hard time.”

Gonzalez got the surprise of a lifetime while patiently waiting for what she thought was a meeting to start at a Sunbeam Family Services office when she felt the point guard fingers on her back. “There were definitely tears of joy and I could tell some tears of hard work and all the different things she’s been through in her life,” Westbrook said of Gonzalez’s reaction. “Today was a stepping stone in showing her that everything is going to be alright.”

The single mom, who is working hard to graduate from high school with the hopes of studying forensic science at a college, was in dire need of a new car. According to the site, Gonzalez had been borrowing friends cars to get herself to school and get her sons to and from daycare.

“It’s so touching and so amazing knowing that there are people out there willing to help the ones that are in need,” Gonzalez said. “It’s just so wonderful."
