Sad Grandpa Reunites With All Six Grandkids After They Skipped His Homemade Meal

It was a Sunday night dinner to remember! Sad grandpa Kenneth Harmon — affectionately dubbed "sad papaw" by the Internet — reunited with his six grandkids on Sunday, March 20, after all but one of them seemingly skipped his home-cooked meal last week.

On March 16, Harmon's granddaughter Kelsey Harmon tweeted a heartbreaking photo of her "papaw" looking down sadly and eating a hamburger all by himself. "Dinner with papaw tonight … he made 12 burgers for all 6 grandkids and I'm the only one who showed. love him," she tweeted in the now-viral post. Hearts all over the Internet immediately broke for the lonely grandfather, and strangers on the web offered to join him at his dinner table instead.

On Sunday, the Daily Mail reunited the family for a quality meal inside the Cowboy Corner in Henryetta, Oklahoma. In the new photos taken by the outlet, sad papaw no longer looks upset at the dinner table. In fact, he beams with happiness as he's flanked by all six of his grandkids, Kelsey, 19, Kaleb, 21, Brock, 20, Brody, 18, Brandon, 17, and Bryn, 12.

Kenneth also clarified to the outlet that he wasn't as upset about the initial dinner as the Internet made him out to be. "I wasn’t like the picture showed, I have a solemn look sometimes. People say I don’t smile enough, but it’s my personality," he told the Daily Mail. "When I have a cookout, everybody is invited, and it was mainly because of Kelsey being out of school. It was gonna be burger night, a get-together with the grandkids. I wanted everybody to be there, but I don’t get upset about things."

Kelsey's big brother Kaleb apparently showed up moments after she tweeted out the pic of papaw, while the other four were missing because of their forgetful dad. "My son Ryan just plain forgot," Kenneth said of why his other four grandkids were absent from the original dinner. "I called him to ask whether he and his kids would be coming over, but he was busy at work and forgot to tell them. These things happen, so I wasn’t too sad. It was a misunderstanding."

In a separate interview with Inside Edition this past weekend, Kelsey defended her tweet, which has since garnered more than 180,000 retweets and nearly 300,000 likes. “Kelsey seriously why would you even tweet that bc now I’m sad,” one person tweeted at the teen, who replied: "bc people need to appreciate their family ok I was so sad."
