Schooled! Salma Hayek suggested that Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump read U.S. History for Dummies during her appearance on The Late Late Show With James Corden on Wednesday, August 3.
“Mr. Trump, I recommend to you to read this book,” the Mexico native, 49, said while presenting James Corden with the big yellow book. “I will gladly lend you my copy.”
Hayek was vocal during her appearance on the talk show about her disgust for the controversial businessman, joking that there is only one thing that she agrees with. “He writes in his book that when he was in first grade, he punched his music teacher because he didn’t think he knew anything about music,” Hayek told Corden. “And, later in the book, he reflects, saying that he’s still exactly the same as that kid in first grade. I agree with him that we have a first-grade bully running for the president of the United States.”
The Sausage Party star previously slammed the GOP nominee after his cringeworthy “7-Eleven” snafu this past April, when Trump misspoke about the 2001 terrorist attacks during a rally in Buffalo, New York.
“I am a dyslexic Mexican and English is my second language, however even I do not confuse 7/11 with 9/11. #DonaldTrump,” the actress tweeted at the time.
During an interview with the Los Angeles Times in July 2015, the actress dubbed Trump’s controversial remarks about “rapist” Mexican immigrants “manipulation.”
“It’s a very simple tactic for self-promotion,” Hayek said. “Everybody’s entitled to be dumb. But I’m not dumb, so I see through the manipulation.”
